I have now participated in two watercolor workshops offered by Dr. Jocelyn Brown through the Silver Wings Arts Program and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Dr. Brown encouraged us to make the subject our own, not just copy it, and helped us to achieve a vision even when it wasn’t very clear to us at the outset. Her spirit of affirmation helped build confidence in the process. She made practical suggestions (never criticisms) and illustrated techniques. Although I am a raw beginner at this art form, she made me feel that I was accomplishing something worthwhile.Because of her positive attitude towards our efforts, we felt comfortable sharing with the other participants, which let us appreciate the variety of approaches we had taken to a common subject—a skill we can all bring into the world beyond our easels. I will certainly look for more opportunities to work under Dr . Brown’s tutelage. She never used her title beyond introducing herself with it, so her expertise didn’t hang over our heads. I'm writing as Rose Khubchandani. I attended a water color landscape workshop and brought two friends. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of painting with water colors outdoors on beautiful afternoon. No experience was needed. We just dabbled and enjoyed the fun of experimentation. All materials were provided - the paints, canvas, brushes, and candy treats. We look forward to taking more workshops at the Silver Wings Arts Program.
